Short Mat Bowls

The indoor short mat bowls club was formed in 2015 after securing a £500 grant from Breckland Council under the ‘Fitness in Later Life’ scheme, which was to give residents the opportunity to take part in a variety of sports and activities. The programme aimed to encourage a sense of personal and community wellbeing to residents in most rurally isolated areas of the district.

Mike Frost chaired the first inaugural meeting in the newly built Shropham Village Hall on 10th September 2015 and the club was entered into several leagues for competitions and roll ups were held twice weekly. The club now has over 40 members, new members are always welcome. We have recently been awarded a grant from the The National Lottery Community Fund which has enabled us to buy suitable mats and equipment for our wheelchair users.
