Short Mat Bowls

Shropham Short Mat bowls club is a very friendly club of about 40 members. The winter season runs between late September and April. Practice roll ups take place most Monday and Friday afternoons between 2.00pm and 4.00pm to allow all members to improve their skills. 

We were fortunate enough to secure a National Lottery Grant which enabled us to purchase new mats and equipment that were more suitable for wheelchair and disabled bowlers. 

We have club tournaments during the season which all members are invited to play in. These are competitive but fun sessions and we try and encourage our members to participate, we have trophies to award to the winners.

During the summer we continue to have a reduced amount of roll ups which are held on a Friday afternoon and we play in a Summer Afternoon League against some of our local clubs.

We also run very successful Thursday morning bowls session inviting members from other clubs to come and play in a friendly but competitive bowls session with the winners getting a free week and the much coveted 'wooden spoon' is awarded each week to the team with the fewest points, this is usually in the form of chocolate.
